Help to Beautify the AIDS Memorial Grove
Join Gay For Good San Francisco to help the National AIDS Memorial Grove look its best. After an orientation, we will work alongside other volunteers to clear debris, weed, spread mulch, and clean brush. This is one of our most popular annual projects with one of our favorite partner organizations, the National AIDS Memorial.
Date: Saturday, May 17
Time: 8:30am – 12pm
Location in Golden Gate Park: National AIDS Memorial Grove, Nancy Pelosi Drive & Bowling Green Drive, San Francisco, CA 94122
Project Leads: Bill (he/him)
Volunteers Needed: 35
Additional Details:
Gloves will be provided. Sturdy shoes and clothing are suggested as well as a hat or visor. No open toed shoes.
Breakfast will be provided during registration from 8:30am – 9:00am. At 12 noon, work ends and volunteers gather for ‘Circle Time’ for announcements and a moment of silence in honor of lives lost to AIDS. Lunch will then be served.
About our Partner: The mission of the National AIDS Memorial is in part to maintain the AIDS Memorial Grove in Golden Gate Park, a place of remembrance of people lost to AIDS. They are also the stewards of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. The Grove and the Quilt are integral to passing along the history and lessons of the AIDS pandemic to future generations.
