G4G SF + AIDS Memorial Grove Clean-up
May 20, 2023
8:30 am - 12:00 pm

What: Join Gay For Good San Francisco to help the National AIDS Memorial Grove look its best. With just one full-time gardener, upkeep of this important space, which extends to 10 acres, would be impossible without volunteers. We expect to be weeding, cleaning brush and debris and possibly planting new shrubs.
The mission statement of the National AIDS Memorial: By sharing the story of the struggle against HIV/AIDS, we remember, in perpetuity, the lives lost, we offer healing and hope to survivors, and we inspire new generations of activists in the fight against stigma, denial, and hate, for a just future.
When: Saturday, May 20 from 8:30am to 12:00pm
Where: National AIDS Memorial Grove, Nancy Pelosi Drive & Bowling Green Drive, San Francisco, CA 94122. We’ll meet at the Bowling Green Drive entrance.
ADDITIONAL DETAIL:
- Registration begins at 8:30am, where a light breakfast will be provided.
- Gloves and tools are provided.
- We suggest that you wear sturdy shoes, and a hat or cap. No open-toe shoes, please! Sturdy clothing (jeans and long-sleeved shirts are suggested) is recommended to avoid getting scratched by twigs or branches, and to protect your knees in the event of hand-weeding.
- At 12:00pm, work will end, and volunteers gather for ‘Circle Time’ for announcements, and a moment of silence in honor of lives lost to AIDS.
- At 12:30pm a light lunch will then be provided after the event.
