Join G4G Philadelphia as We Partner With New Leash on Life!

New Leash on Life USA leverages the powerful bond between humans and dogs to restore hope, healing and well-being to transform lives.

We are looking for volunteers to transport the dogs and volunteers to walk the dogs. Transporters will meet at the Detention Center to pick up the dogs and transport them to Pennypack on the Delaware, where the dog walkers will walk them.

IMPT: All volunteers will need to sign a waiver. Any volunteers driving the dogs from the prison will need to submit information for a background check at least one week prior to the event.

Time: Multiple Shifts

Transporters: 2 Volunteer Slots
– Meeting Time: 11:30am
– Meeting Location: Detention Center, 8201 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136

Dog Walkers: 10 Volunteer Slots
– Meeting Time: 12:00pm
– Meeting Location: Pennypack on the Delaware, 7801 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136

What To Wear/Bring: 

For All Volunteers
– No Open-Toed shoes/flip-flips
– Wear comfortable walking clothes that you don’t mind getting dog fur on

Volunteers Picking Up Dogs From the Detention Center
– No shorts (you can change at the park if its hot obviously but when coming and going into the detention center, must stick to dress code.)
– You should only enter the detention center with your state-issued ID. If you have to bring keys, we will have someone hold them for us /leave them at the front desk
– No phones, etc.

About Our Partner: Founded in 2010, New Leash on Life USA rescues at-risk dogs and works with justice-involved individuals in both prison and community settings to create fresh starts. Leveraging the powerful bond between humans and dogs, our unique model prepares a vulnerable population of underserved people, many living in poverty, with life skills workshops and career services and gives our rescue dogs a fresh start at life and adoption into forever homes.
