Our partner has General Safety Guidelines they ask that volunteers review and adhere to:

1. Wear Appropriate Attire:
– Closed-toe shoes (sturdy boots/steel-toe preferred).
– Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing.
– Gloves for handling heavy or sharp objects.

2. Stay Alert:
– Be aware of your surroundings, especially moving equipment or people carrying heavy items.
– Avoid distractions like mobile phones during active loading.

Loading and Lifting:

3. Use Proper Lifting Techniques:
– Bend at the knees, not the waist.
– Lift with your legs, not your back.
– Ask for help if an item is too heavy or awkward.

4. Secure Heavy Items:
– Ensure all items are properly strapped or stabilized before transporting.
– Use dollies, carts, or other equipment for heavier loads.

Theater-Specific Concerns:

5. Maintain Clear Pathways:
– Keep aisles and doorways clear of equipment or materials.
– Be mindful of fire exits and access routes.

6. Be Cautious with Rigging and Overhead Work:
– Only qualified personnel should handle rigging equipment.
– Never stand under suspended loads.

7. Electrical Safety:
– Do not tamper with electrical systems unless authorized.
– Report any exposed wires or unsafe conditions immediately.

Emergency Procedures:

8. Know the Exits:
– Familiarize yourself with the nearest exits and emergency procedures.

9. Report Incidents:
– Inform point person immediately if an injury or hazard occurs.

Rick Bluhm will be the point person on the day of the project, managing the load-in of the set and production site, and will be who volunteers report to when arriving and throughout the day.
