G4G NYC + The Lavender Field
July 2, 2023
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join Gay for Good New York City this July to collect and hedge at The Lavender Field!
Join Gay For Good NYC for a ferry ride to Governors Island to help tend The Lavender Field. We will be picking lavender, pruning the bushes, and performing general maintenance of the garden.
This is an outdoor event, rain or shine. We will be kneeling on the ground, so wear some sturdy (but cute) gardening attire! Hat and sunscreen is highly recommended. BYO hearty lunch and water bottles. We will have an area for bags.
The Lavender Field is maintained by Earth Matter NY, a non-profit who seeks to reduce the organic waste misdirected into the garbage stream by encouraging neighbor participation and leadership in composting.
Date: July 2, 2023
Time: 11 am – 2 pm
Location: Governors Island! (A map to the site will be provided before event, the site is a ten minute walk from the docks.)
Book your ferry ticket here
Please Note: The ferry only runs once every 40 minutes! It is imperative you catch the 10:30am ferry to arrive at the event at 11:00am.
We have space for 15 volunteers!
