Join us for a special partnership event with the staff of Nocterra Brewing Co. We will be working on a special project in the Japanese Garden at the beautiful Dawes Arboretum in Newark, followed by a post project social to enjoy food and drinks at Dankhouse Brewery nearby.

We’ll work with the Landscape Operations staff to help enhance this beloved space with plantings and a garden redesign to draw guests into the south entrance. Volunteers can expect planting, mulching, watering, shoveling, raking stone, pounding/hammering with 8-pound sledge and tamping.

This will include bending, kneeling and walking moderate distances.

WHERE: 7770 Jacksontown Rd, Newark, OH 43056

WHEN:  Saturday, June 12th 10am – 1pm

More about The Dawes Arboretum…

By the time The Dawes Arboretum was founded in 1929, over 50,000 trees had been planted and the grounds had doubled in size to 293 acres. Beman and Bertie Dawes created The Arboretum as a private foundation: “To encourage the planting of forest and ornamental trees… to give pleasure to the public and education to the youth.”

The Dawes Arboretum’s collections include over 5300 different types of plants (taxa) with more than 15,400 plants on grounds.

To ensure the continuation of The Arboretum, Beman and Bertie Dawes established an endowment fund. The endowment continues to be one of the major sources of funds for The Dawes Arboretum that has grown from 293 acres to nearly 2,000.
