‘Welcome to the USA’ Virtual Card Making Service Project
Join us as we make cards to welcome immigrants!

Immigrants released from detention centers most likely haven’t heard anyone say, “Welcome to the USA!”  We’ll make cards and get them to detainees when they are released. Many folks keep these special cards forever as a reminder that not only are they welcome here, they belong here.

Make cards at your leisure from the comfort of home OR join us on zoom for a card making party (bonus: help purchase make up transgender immigrants and/or become a penpal) 

Virtual Social/Card Making Party

Card Making Supply List:
White Paper (Standard 8 1/2 x 11 printer paper works great)
Colored Card stock or Colored Paper (not required, but adds a nice touch)
Scissors
Tape (regular or double sided) or Glue Dots
Markers, Crayons and/or Colored Pencils
Stickers or other embellishments (flags, stars, rainbows, flowers, etc)

During our virtual event we will walk you through making the cards, but for anyone wanting to participate from home, please read the instructions below.

These cards can be as simple as “Welcome to the USA!” or have a longer, encouraging message written, as well.  Be as creative as you’d like — draw, paint, color, stickers… the brighter the card the better!

If you’re using the word America in your cards, please be sure to write either US, USA, United States of America or the United States. There’s not just one America!  All languages are welcome, and Spanish and English are used the most.  You can also use Google Translate to write a short message of hope

2. Shop our Amazon Wishlist . Click here to help purchase make-up for transgender immigrants.  Upon their release Casa De Paz provides many items to help get people on their feet, and for many MTF transgender immigrants a make-up kit is especially valued to help them begin to heal.
3. Become a pen pal and write immigrants in detention, offering your friendship with someone who is isolated and cut off from their family, friends and community.
