G4G Boston + Friends of the Fells | Dec 7

Where: Middlesex Fells at the Botume House (4 Woodland Rd, Stoneham)

About: The Friends of the Middlesex Fells Reservation is an organization dedicated to the protection and harmony of the Fells; promoting awareness, policies and programs to honor and preserve the ecological, historical and recreational resources of this urban forest reservation.

We will remove the invasive plants called Glossy buckthorn and Asiatic bittersweet using hand tools like shovels, pick axes, and a weed wrench with gloves. This is our first project in the very late fall, and we look forward to providing much needed assistance to the Friends of the Fells!

What To Bring: Friends of the Fells will provide tools and gloves. Everyone should wear long sleeves, tall socks, hats, warm layers, and good hiking boots or sneakers. People are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle or thermos with a warm beverage (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc.).

We will monitor weather closely to ensure this will be a dry event with no cold rain. Volunteers are encouraged to dress appropriate for the weather forecasted for the day.

In addition to registering with Gay for Good, you will be asked to fill out a waiver with the Friends of the Fells the week of the project.

This project is limited to 25 people; however, we do encourage carpooling as there is limited parking in the area.
