What we will be doing: We will be helping with Zoo Howl, a family-friendly Halloween event at Franklin Park Zoo! Dressed in “merry” not “scary” costumes, we will greet guests as they arrive and hand out event flyers. We’ll staff the trick-or-treat tables handing out treats and we’ll help at arts and crafts tables.
Transport and Parking: If you have a car, parking is free at the Franklin Park Zoo! There are three public transportation options:
- Take the Orange Line or Commuter Rail to Ruggles Station, then take the Route 22, 28, 29, or 45 bus to Franklin Park Zoo. Routes 22 and 28 are “Key Bus Routes” and are every 20 minutes or better, seven days per week, during service hours.
- Take the Orange Line or Commuter Rail to Forest Hills Station, then take the Route 16 bus to Franklin Park Zoo.
- Take the Red Line to Andrew station, then take the Route 16 bus to Franklin Park Zoo.
Additional Information:
- Volunteers are strongly encouraged to wear a costume (that is not scary).
- Lunch will be provided to volunteers!
- There are morning and afternoon shifts for this event, and we are having them overlap so we can get a photo of all the G4G volunteers together in their costumes!
About our Partner: Franklin Park Zoo is a 72-acre site nestled in Boston’s historic Franklin Park, long considered the “crown jewel” of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace Park System. The Zoo was founded in 1912 and is now part of Zoo New England. Their mission is to inspire people to protect and sustain the natural world for future generations by creating fun and engaging experiences that integrate wildlife and conservation programs, research, and education.
