G4G Boston + BLC ReVision Urban Farm

WHO: Victory Programs’ Boston Living Center (BLC) is a nonprofit community and resource center that fosters the wellness of all HIV positive people and responds to the changing needs of the HIV/AIDS community through education, treatment, information and support services. Victory Programs’ ReVision Urban Farm is an innovative community-based urban agriculture project that grows produce in its own fields and provides access to affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food to residents of our ReVision Family Home and our extended community. In association with ReVision Family Home, we also provide job training for youth and Boston’s homeless.

WHAT: Volunteers would help with potting seedlings for their upcoming seedling sale.  It is recommended to bring a face mask, a bottle of water, wear sunscreen and close-toed shoes. Wear appropriate cool & comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and do not wear rings or loose jewelry. You may bring gardening gloves if you have them but they are not required. The event will be taking place inside of their 80 degree greenhouse so it will be warm. This event will run rain or shine.

If you can drive there, limited street parking is available. G4G leader will attend and has a car and can offer a ride to and from Ashmont Station to 3 mask wearing people.

WHEN: Thursday, April 15 from 1-4PM (rain or shine)

PLEASE NOTE: This is a VERY small event open to only 8 volunteers and it will sell out quickly. If this listing shows as “sold out” you can still sign up for the waiting list, as long as you don’t mind being approved somewhat last minute due to cancellations. If you are fortunate enough to be one of the 8 accepted, PLEASE email us at boston@gayforgood.org if you cannot make it, so we can offer your slot to someone on the waiting list.  You will receive a reminder/confirmation email the day before the event with the group leaders phone number that you may text with questions or cancellations or to make arrangements for a ride from Ashmont to the event. You may also receive a text from the leader before the event confirming your availability. Also note, a Victory Programs liability waiver will need to be signed upon arrival.
