Hello Arkansas G4G Volunteers! It’s cold outside, so we’re hosting a virtual event!

Join us for a volunteer project to create materials that will be used to crochet mats for the homeless. The project involves working together online to create rolls of plarn (plastic yarn) that will be collected and used to create the mats. The mats will be delivered to Canvas Community, an organization dedicated to bringing Little Rock back to life by providing goods and services to the homeless.
Plarn mats have quickly become a favorite because they’re easy to clean and they hold up well in wet conditions to prevent water from seeping into sleeping bags. A big challenge is that it takes 500-700 plastic bags to create a single person-size mat. We’re addressing that challenge by gathering together to create plarn rolls that will be delivered to another very dedicated community volunteer who will be crocheting the rolls into mats.
