“Pride for the Planet” Week of Service Mobilizes LGBTQ+ Volunteers Across 23 Cities

[Nationwide]— From April 18 to April 26, Gay For Good will activate volunteers across 23 chapters nationwide for its annual “Pride for the Planet” Week of Service, an Earth Month initiative focused on environmental action and community impact.

During this week-long effort, LGBTQ+ volunteers and allies will support a wide range of environmental projects in partnership with local nonprofits. Activities will include beach and park cleanups, invasive plant removal, and participation in community recycling programs. Each project is designed to protect natural spaces and promote long-term sustainability in their respective communities.

“Pride for the Planet reflects the heart of our mission,” said Anne Friedman, Executive Director of Gay For Good. “We are proud to bring together LGBTQ+ volunteers and allies across 23 communities to take meaningful action for the environment. Whether it is cleaning our beaches, restoring parks, or supporting recycling efforts, every project is an opportunity to build connections while caring for the places we call home.”

With projects taking place in both urban, rural and coastal communities, the initiative highlights the collective impact of service.

Gay For Good continues to advance its mission of mobilizing LGBTQ+ volunteers to promote diversity, foster inclusion, and strengthen communities through service. “Pride for the Planet” reflects this commitment by creating accessible opportunities for people of all backgrounds.

Community members are encouraged to participate in projects taking place in cities across the country. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to make a difference.
