G4G SF + Rainbow World Fund World Tree of Hope
November 29, 2024
10:00 am - 2:00 pm
G4G San Francisco & Rainbow World Fund
The Rainbow World Fund World Tree of Hope is an annual symbol of global unity, peace, love, and humanitarianism. The tree is created as a gift from the LGBTQ+ and friends community to the world. This is the eighth year that it will be displayed in San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral. The World Tree of Hope is the largest origami decorated holiday tree in the world, standing over 23 feet tall and decorated with over 17,000 origami cranes and stars each hand folded and inscribed with wishes for the future of the world.
WHAT: We will be moving supplies and tree decorations from the lower level of Grace Cathedral up to the nave and to a work area, setting up tables with origami supplies, and moving other supplies into storage. Some volunteers can help assemble the tree while others can fold origami (lessons provided) and then decorate the finished origami.
WHEN: Friday, November 29th, 10am-2pm, with the option to stay later, if willing.
WHERE: Grace Cathedral, 1100 California Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
Transit options to Grace Cathedral
Volunteers Needed: 20
Project Leads: Bill Delaney (he/him) / Barry Schmell (he/him)
