WHAT: G4G Rocky Mountains + Wilderness Workshop

WHEN: Saturday, September 8th, 8:30am-1pm (but you can car camp with Wilderness Workshop from 5pm on September 7th through 5pm on September 9th.

WHERE: Join us for an amazing weekend in one of the Valley’s most scenic locations, just as the aspens are beginning to change. We’re replanting a wetland at the headwaters of the Frying Pan River near Lime Park. The Forest Service removed a series of dams on an important trout stream and wetland.

Participants will car-camp for the weekend (or just join us for a day) at the site and revegetate the area with willows and other native species. This is the third and final year of this always popular project – don’t miss it!

What to bring: warm clothes, rain gear, closed toed shoes, water, and lunch (gloves and tools provided). If you are camping please bring sleeping equipment and your own plate, mug, bowl and utensils.

Camping: We encourage you to join us for car camping at Crooked Creek Reservoir on Friday and Saturday night. Please bring your own overnight gear, Wilderness Workshop will provide cooking equipment but please bring your own plate, mug, bowl and utensils.

Food: Wilderness Workshop provide dinner and breakfast from Friday night through Sunday morning. Please bring you own lunch for both Saturday and Sunday.

Why restore an old reservoir? The old reservoir filled up a riparian meadow and wetland. Now that the water is mostly gone, we’ll be working to bring back the wetland and riparian (stream-side) vegetation. This project will help creat meanders in the stream and plant new vegetation where the old reservoir was.
