     11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join Gay For Good Los Angles on the last Sunday of Pride 2022 as we work with our new partner Water Drop LA to distribute water to our neighbors in Skid Row.

We will load our personal cars with as much water as will fit and be separated into teams of two or three people per vehicle. WDLA will provide each carload with driving routes and drop points. Gay For Good volunteers will have the opportunity to partner with experienced volunteers from WDLA in order to learn best practices as we do our drops.

From WDLA’s website:  By packing 15+ cars and trucks with water gallons and fanning out across the region, we are able to reach a significant number of Skid Row residents. While a gallon a week is nowhere near sufficient for healthy survival in Los Angeles’s hot climate, we hope that this regular water distribution, which supplements the actions already being taken by organizers around the city, will curb some of the existing urgent need for clean drinking water.

We have a total of fifteen volunteer slots available for this event. As mentioned above, we will need a few folks to volunteer their personal vehicles for the drops. For those who don’t feel comfortable using their vehicles, there is ample parking at the meet-up point. The meet-up point is a few blocks from Skid Row and will be shared once you’ve signed up for the event.

Date & Time: Sunday, June 26th, 11:00AM – 2:00PM

Location: 3131 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90007

Communication From WDLA: Once you sign up to volunteer, a representative from WDLA will email you separately to confirm your information.

Meeting Point/Transit Info: Downtown LA – Exact location and metro stops will be shared with volunteers before the project date. You are welcome if you’re traveling by public transport or ride share!

Accessibility: A big part of this project is lifting plastic jugs of water and twisting the body. If you’re called to this project and the physicality is not available to you, don’t hesitate to sign up and come as you are! We need ALL of our volunteers. We will put you to work in whatever way suits you!

Additional Details: Please dress in comfortable clothing for outdoor work. Closed toed shoes, sun protection and gloves if you’d like. Bring your personal water to stay hydrated.

COVID policy: Water Drop LA requests that all volunteers be masked and maintain a 6ft distance when possible.

We look forward to working together!!
