Volunteer with Gay for Good DFW at the 43rd Annual Black Tie Dinner
Gay for Good is proud to be providing volunteer support for this year’s Black Tie Dinner. Volunteers are needed for a range of tasks which will be broken out into 3 shifts. Grab your friends and join us for a wonderful afternoon and evening of volunteering together in support of a great cause.
Date: Saturday, November 16, 2024
Time: Multiple Shifts and Roles
1:00pm – 5:00pm | General Support (20 Volunteer Slots)

- Support the the Events & Operations committee with set-up and arrangement of event space.
- Ensure the ballroom is pristine and presentable for guests
- Visually audit each table set-up and ensure the correct number of glasses, plates, dinnerware and other ancillary table items are present and clean
- Assist with floral set-up if needed, including moving floral from the staging area to the ballroom and arranging floral on ballroom tables
- Note: Must be able to maneuver between tables and carry/lift at least 25 lbs
3:30pm – 7:00pm | Registration & Express Check In (25 Volunteer Slots)

- Exact assignments will be given upon check-in
- Express Check-in Volunteers must be comfortable using their phones and navigating OneCause software
- Volunteers will scan guests’ QR codes, look up guests by name, and direct them to their designated reception after checking them in
- Redirect unregistered guests to the Registration Lead for assistance
- Volunteers should expect to be standing/stationary in the same spot for the period of the shift Registration
- Volunteers must be comfortable using iPads/tablets, potentially their personal phone, to navigate the OneCause platform to register guests, take credit cards, pass out tickets, and direct guests to their designated reception
- May include troubleshooting and problem-solving and must have excellent customer service skills.
7:00pm – 11:59pm | Floater (20 Volunteer Slots)

- Assist as needed and fill in if a volunteer is a no-show
- Comfortable chatting with people
- Able to stand/walk for extended lengths of time
- Able to lift 25 lbs
- Comfortable using iPad/tablet technology
- May include event set-up/tear down, auction assistance, checking out auction winners, and more

Transportation/Parking: Hotel parking garages will NOT be available on Saturday. Alternative parking options:
- Parking lot located North and of the Sheraton just across the street (small)
- Park Mobile parking lots North and South
- Zones 9801, 9802, 9809 Pacific & Olive
- Zones 9828 and 9829 between N. Hardwood & Olive (near Federal St.)
- Park Hero App
- Dart day Pass
- Taxi or ride share services
- Carpool
What To Wear/Bring: Consider layering as the interior of the hotel is maintained at a cold temperature.
- Saturday morning through afternoon (9a-3p) – Casual and comfortable clothes/shoes
- Saturday shifts starting at 3pm and after – Business casual/dressy black pants/skirts with white button-down shirt/blouse/top.
- NO POLOS OR T-SHIRTS
Additional Details: Snacks, water and coffee will be available. Volunteers working 4+ hours after 3pm will have a light meal provided. If you have any special accommodations, please let Eldie (the leadership coordinator) know.
