WHO: Victory Programs’ ReVision Urban Farm is an innovative community-based urban agriculture project that grows produce in their own fields and provides access to affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food to residents of their ReVision Family Home and extended community. In association with ReVision Family Home, they also provide job training for youth and Boston’s homeless. Victory Programs’ is also the same organization that runs The Boston Living Center.

WHAT: Volunteers will help with field prep and planting, primarily prepping the soil for future plantings. This will require lots of work while kneeling down and bending over; be ready for your farm aerobics!  It is recommended to bring a face mask, a bottle of water, wear sunscreen and close-toed shoes. Wear appropriate & comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, and do not wear rings or loose jewelry. You may bring gardening gloves if you have them but they are not required.  This event will run rain or shine.

WHERE: Meet at the gazebo next to the greenhouse across the street from  38 Fabyan Street Boston

transit directions from Ashmont Station

If you can drive there, limited street parking is available. G4G leader will attend and has a car and can offer a ride to and from Ashmont Station to 3 mask wearing people.

WHEN: Thursday, May 13 from 1-4PM (rain or shine)

PLEASE NOTE: This is a VERY small event open to only 8 volunteers and it will sell out quickly. If this listing shows as “sold out” you can still sign up for the waiting list, as long as you don’t mind being approved somewhat last minute due to cancellations. If you are fortunate enough to be one of the 8 accepted, PLEASE email us at boston@gayforgood.org if you cannot make it, so we can offer your slot to someone on the waiting list.  You will receive a reminder/confirmation email the day before the event with the group leaders’ phone number that you may text with questions or cancellations or to make arrangements for a ride from Ashmont to the event. You may also receive a text from the leader before the event confirming your availability. Also note, a Victory Programs and G4G liability waiver will need to be signed upon arrival.
