     4:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join Gay For Good San Diego as we once again partner with Dos Picos County Park and the San Diego County Department of Parks and Recreation for their annual Haunted Trail!  Volunteers are needed to serve as scare actors and spirit guides on the trail.

WHEN:

Saturday, October 26, 2019 form 4 pm to 9 pm

WHERE:

Dos Picos County Park

7953 Dos Picos Park Road, Ramona, CA 92065

WHAT:

Gay For Good San Diego is once again helping our friends at Dos Picos County Park (near Ramona) on Saturday, October 26th!  We will serve as “spirit guides” and provide family-friendly “scares” as actors in the Haunted Trail attraction for that evening. The rangers will feed us dinner and give us instructions and recommendations on how to offer the best family-friendly scares from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm when the attraction opens to the public. We will be done by 9:00 pm.

Gay For Good volunteers wanting to serve as scare actors in the Haunted Trail should wear family-friendly, but scary costumes. Other volunteers will serve as spirit guides to escort families along the trail and should bring a good flashlight.  Dos Picos really needs people to serve as spirit guides.  These are people who feel confident to lead groups of 20 or so people on the haunted trail and will watch for safety hazards along the trail, such as slippery conditions, low-hanging tree branches, and rocks and other tripping hazards.  The hikes are about 20 minutes long and will run continuously from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.  Plan to spend from 4-9pm with us. Rangers will do a pre-hike of the trail before dark and feed you dinner too.

Some suggestions for volunteers serving as scare actors: You are welcome to bring your costume, a mask, and/or spooky make-up! You can get some ideas for your costume by checking out the list below. Anything goes, but keep in mind that this is a family-friendly show.  No adult themes, please. This year the available scare areas are:

+ Toddler Game Zone (you would actually run the game wearing your costume)
+ Chainsaw and the Zombie Horde
+ Boogey Men
+ Graveyard
+ Haunted Playground
+ Haunted Woods
+ Cannibal Picnic
+ Bloody Bride
+ Bridge Trolls
+ Evil Wood Elves
+ Tree Spirits
+ Witches’ Castle
+ Werewolf

WHO:

All volunteers driving to the park should allow time to get to the park before the 4:00 pm start time:  The park is about a 45 minutes drive from central San Diego.  Drivers can let the ranger know that you are a volunteer for the Haunted Trail, allowing you to avoid paying the $3 parking fee.  All volunteers will also need to complete the Hold Harmless/Photo Release waiver for the County Office of Parks and Rec Department in addition to the Gay For Good San Diego waiver and release form.  All G4G San Diego events are open to people of all abilities, gender expressions, and identities!

If you have questions about this event, please let us know in advance. The park has poor cell phone reception.
