     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

ReachOUT will be performing it’s first project in Eastern North Carolina!  West Nash United Methodist Church and Spectrum from Barton College will be joining ReachOUT volunteers to collect donations and assemble “MOVIN’ OUT bags”.  These bags will contain items for women and children who have encountered domestic abuse and are transitioning from the Wesley Shelter into their next home.

Collection boxes for the “MOVIN’ OUT bags” are located at the YMCA, West Nash United Methodist Church, Winstead United Methodist Church and Barton College (Hamlin Student Center) if you would like to drop-off items.  If you would prefer to donate items off the Amazon Wish List, they will be directly shipped for you and you will not have to drop off items at these locations.  Items that are requested include:

– Air pumps for air mattresses
– Twin/full sheet sets
– Towels
– Women’s deodorant
– Feminine hygiene products
– Small bottles of hand lotion
– Small bottles of hand sanitizer
– Stuffed animals
– Children’s books
– $10 gift cards (Walmart, Target, grocery store, gas station)

The event will take place on Saturday, April 6th from 10am-12pm at the Chapel Plaza at Barton College.  If there is inclement weather, the event will take place in the lobby of Hines Hall.  The address for Barton College is 200 Atlantic Christian College Dr W, Wilson, NC 27893.  The following activities are planned for the day:

– Sorting out the donations and assembling bags
– Making children’s fleece blankets
– Creating inspirational cards

– Painting kindness stones

– Providing free lunch after event

This is a family-friendly event, and all ages are welcome.  If you register, additional details including the address will be emailed to you a few days before the event by the ReachOUT project leader. For any inquiries, please email raleigh-durham@gayforgood.org.
