G4G Pittsburgh + Allegheny Cleanways

Join G4G PGH as we partner with one of our most favorite neighbors, Allegheny Cleanways, in an integrated event with volunteers from Friends of the Riverfront. We will meet to go over safety, our work plan for the day, and then we will be off to collect some epic trash. We will use ACW’s pontoon boat, Rachel Carson, to shuttle volunteers up and down the banks of the allegheny river. Volunteers will rotate being on the boat with working along the trail and surrounding area to remove trash and invasive plants.

Date: Saturday, July 16th, 2022

Time: 9am – noon

Location: Lawrenceville Three Rivers Heritage Trail Parking

Additional Details: Please wear clothes that you are comfortable with potentially getting muddy/wet. Volunteers are required to wear long pants. We also recommend bringing a long-sleeve shirt to avoid being scratched or coming in contact with poison ivy and the sun. It is also suggested to bring a change of clothes in case you have a bit too much fun pulling a muddy tire. Closed-toe shoes are required. We recommend rubber boots or waterproof boots.  All volunteers will be provided with work gloves, life jackets, safety glasses, and tools. We will also have all necessary safety equipment available such as first aid, sunscreen, bug spray, canned water, and light snacks. Please be sure to bring your reusable water bottle!
