Join G4G Twin Cities as we volunteer with Clare Housing in staffing their annual fundraiser at a drive-in theater at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. This fundraiser helps provide safe, affordable and permanent housing for extremely low income people living with HIV/AIDS in the Twin Cities.

After an uplifting program featuring Clare Housing  work in the community, you can stay for a free showing of the motion picture musical RENT. Event participants can bring snacks for the movie or buy fair-inspired favorites from food trucks.

MULTIPLE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE

Event Date: Wednesday, September 30th

Event Timing Details:
               Guests begin arriving at 5:30 pm
               Program starts at 6:00 pm
               Entertainment/Intermission by 7:00 pm
               Movie RENT! by 7:30 pm

 Volunteer Arrival time: by 4:00 pm (leads at 3:00 pm)

Volunteer Check In: Clare Housing Guest Services on the Midway

Volunteer Requirement: all Clare staff and volunteers must wear a face mask at all times, and gloves when handling items given to guests.

VOLUNTEER ROLES / DESCRIPTION /# NEEDED 

Fairground Main Entrance Welcome Team – 4
Standing at fairground main entrance on Snelling Avenue, volunteers will flag wave guests through main gate and direct to first checkpoint.

Checkpoint 1 (masks / hand sanitizer) – 4
As vehicle arrives, volunteers will hand Clare Housing branded masks and individual hand sanitizers to car occupants. Volunteer will ask occupants to wear masks (ours or their own) and direct car to next checkpoint.

 Checkpoint 2 (event packets) – 4
As vehicle arrives, volunteers hand one packet per household in vehicle (in most cases will be one packet), and direct to final checkpoint. 

Checkpoint 3 (popcorn) – 4
As vehicle arrives, volunteers hand one bucket/bag of popcorn per vehicle. Volunteer will offer napkin dispenser for driver to take desire amount of napkins.

Parking Attendants – 14
Volunteers will be positioned with flags throughout parking lot, guiding and positioning vehicles six feet apart. A parking lot grid and directions from Clare staff will be provided.

Host Ribbon Distributors – 6
As vehicles are arriving at Midway for parking, these volunteers will be looking for a RED card on the dashboard. Red card designates Clare-avan Host, and volunteer will tie pull ribbons to mirror(s)

Hand Sanitizer Spray Team – 3-6
Volunteers will be positioned new food trucks, and potentially near biffy’s to offer hand sanitizer spray to guests in those areas. Time-frame is TBD, but likely between 6:45p-8:45p

Packet Pick up – 20
Volunteers will be assigned lanes and walk with a bin to capture completed envelopes through vehicle windows toward the end of the program.
