What: FriendshipWorks are hosting their annual Walk to End Elder Isolation and our team of G4G volunteers will be there to help with logistics and making sure people have a great time while raising awareness and funds to end Elder Isolation in the Greater Boston area!
When: Sunday, May 21st, 8:45am – 12pm
Where: The Rogerson House in Jamaica Plain, 434 Jamaicaway, Boston, MA 02130
Directions and Parking Info: Parking is being provided at The Curley School, 40 Pershsing Road, just a few blocks away. (Ignore the tow zone signs at the school, volunteers have been given permission to park there for the event.) There is also limited street parking along Centre Street. You can also reach the location via the Route 39 bus. For transit directions, click here.
About FriendshipWorks: FriendshipWorks’ mission is to reduce social isolation, enhance the quality of life, and preserve the dignity of older adults in Greater Boston. They accomplish this by recruiting and training volunteers of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds who provide friendship, advocacy, education, assistance, and emotional support.
About the Project: Volunteers will be lending a hand by: assisting with check-ins and people-moving as teams of walkers arrive, distributing breakfast, cheering walkers, serving a sweet treat to returning walkers, and clearing and cleaning up as another successful Walk to End Elder Isolation concludes!
This project is limited to 6 G4G volunteers.
