What: A summer favorite is back! Volunteers will paddle out on the Charles River, in canoes, and remove invasive water chestnuts. These aquatic weeds grow prolifically throughout The Charles River Lakes District, located in Newton and Waltham Lakes. If allowed to reproduce freely, water chestnuts cause a myriad of issues for the ecosystems and waterways they inhabit.

Where: 2 Forest Grove Road, Waltham, MA 02453. Plan to arrive between 8:30-8:45 AM.

What to wear: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and wet. Also, bring

  • drinking water and snacks
  • sunscreen
  • sunglasses and/or a hat
  • waterproof camera (optional)

Canoes, life vests, paddles will be provided.
