WHAT: G4G Boston + Boston Triathlon

WHERE: Mother’s Rest Field, 180 Mt Vernon St, Dorchester, MA 02125

ABOUT: Boston Medical Center’s Triathlon fundraiser to fight addiction. We will be volunteering as Transition Area Support (second shift).

The race Transition Area (TA) is the most important piece of a triathlon! This is where athletes will transition from swimming, to biking, to running and where relay teams will hand off their timing chips. Volunteers are needed in the TA to perform a variety of different functions:

  • One group of volunteers will be positioned at the mount and dismount line, near the TA exit, to direct athletes with verbal commands and hand motions indicating where they should mount and dismount their bikes.
  • Another group will be positioned inside the TA monitoring the area and making sure athletes flow in the right direction.
  • After all the athletes have completed the bike course, volunteers will provide security and assist athletes who’ve completed the race to check out their gear from TA.
